Having received his Bachelors of Music from the Royal Northern College of Music, Andrew is now enjoying a career of diverse performances across the country.

His musical life started with the Shropshire Music Service, originally learning guitar until the age of 10 when he moved onto trumpet. From then, he joined several of the ensembles provided by the Music Service, including the Youth Brass Band, Big Band and both the Wind and Symphony Orchestras.

Andrew’s love of ensemble work has continued, having played in multiple groups in concerts for the RNCM, performing substantial works like Mahler I, Bernstein’s Mass and John Adams Harmonielehre. He is currently enjoying working with his Brass Quintet M15 Brass, a group he often performs with.

Andrew is proficient in Flugel, Natural Trumpet, Electric bass and Piano. He is also a skilled conductor, having studied under Michael Turner, Mark Heron and Melvin Tay.

Andrew is often asked to play for various groups and ensembles across the North and the Midlands, including the Hallé Orchestra, Elland Silver Brass Band, Symphonia Verbum Orchestra, and Symphonic Ibiza. He has also featured on several professional recordings of artists from around the Midlands and Northwest, including the upcoming 2025 release of the Hallé Orchestra’s “Simon Boccanegra” by Verdi.

He has recently appeared as a soloist with several orchestras across the country, tackling concertos such as the Neruda, Hummel, Haydn and Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 2.  

Before coming to the RNCM, Andrew spent two years developing his teaching skills, while working full time as a teaching assistant in a small primary school. This gave him extensive experience working with young children and allowed him to gain an appreciation of how important music education is. He has continued to teach privately and delivers lessons to a range of ages and abilities.

As well as music, Andrew enjoys drinking whisky, building lego, and playing board games.
